ABOUT THIS APP
The Photo Window was created by HullBreach Studios as a tool to apply a number of three-dimensional features to Portrait photos taken on a supported device through the Camera app or directly within The Photo Window itself.
HOW IT WORKS
For Portrait photos, iOS generates depth maps and embeds them within the photo files. Depending on the device, this could be from the disparity between the captured photos (relative depth) or data from the TruthDepth or LiDAR scanners (absolute depth).
The Photo Window processes that depth map and uses it as a slicer, which is similar to how 3D printers or medical imagery work. This slicer generates 200 layers from the image, each representing a specific depth. From there, it is possible to have all kinds of fun with the photo!
